Nora Ayibatari Moor

Nora Ayibatari Moor (b. 2007) is a contemporary classical composer and a Brearley School student with a deepening passion for music composition. She began playing the piano at the age of four and the violin at the age of eight. A devoted musician, Nora attended Mannes Prep for violin for two years and has performed at Carnegie Hall twice. While she occasionally composes on the violin, the piano remains central to her creative process. Nora is a solo violinist in her school's chamber group and 3rd chair violinist in her upper school orchestra. She has received recognition from Interlochen Arts Camp, where she studied music composition, theory, history, and techniques under the guidance of Dr. Jennifer Jolley, Dr. Amanda Harberg, Dr. Andrew Martin Smith, and Dr. Carrie Magin, performing as a solo violinist in 3 works and composing six pieces, which Nora is incredibly grateful to have had performed by Interlochen faculty members and students from the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Interlochen Philharmonic, and the World Youth Wind Symphony, with two of her pieces conducted by Nicholas Perry Clark, whom along with and Cynthia Van Maanen, she received praise.
